‘The Grace Notes’ – Friday 9 March 2018

 

 

The soulful lead vocals of Ley Adewole and the cool grooves of pianist Richard Penrose, vocalist Janice Mitchelson, drummer Damian Rodd and bassist Yan Speake together make ‘The Grace Notes’, who play a mixture of disco, soul, funk and Motown, and also operate as a Jazz quartet.

Ley, the lead singer, has sung with major acts such as Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and Take That.

‘Stranded on a mountain after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must work together to endure the extreme elements of the remote, snow-covered terrain. Realizing that help is not on the way, they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness, pushing each other to survive and discovering their inner strength.’

Doors and bar open at 7pm for refreshments with the film show starting at 7.30pm.

After contracting polio at the age of 28, Robin Cavendish is confined to a bed and given only months to live. With help from his wife Diana and her twin brothers, and the groundbreaking ideas of inventor Teddy Hall, Cavendish emerges from the hospital ward and devotes the rest of his life to helping fellow patients and the disabled.

We forget how polio  affected many people not so many years ago….

Coverack Horticultural Show – Saturday August 18 2018

COVERACK HORTICULTURAL SHOW.  The annual show, staged by Coverack 
Horticultural Society, is an eagerly anticipated event in the village 
diary and is looked forward to by exhibitors, locals and visitors 
alike.

This year will be the 64th Show and is being held on Saturday 18 August. 
Entries are welcomed in a variety of classes: Vegetables, Flowers, 
Flora art, Domestic classes include bread, cakes, preserves, 
Photography and a truly creative Children’s section. 

Full schedule to be included nearer the time

Entries can be taken to the hall on the evening before the show 

between 6 and 8pm and in the morning from 8 to 10pm.

Prize giving at 4.30pm

Closure at 5.oopm
